Monday, February 25th

We had a school delay due to snow.  With “nothing to do” they asked to paint their toes.  Meg picked out the colors, and they each chose to use the colors in a different pattern on their toes.

Sunday, February 24th

I bought this quilt on a trip with my mom to visit family in Pennsylvania in 2011.  We drove out to Amish country, and decided to take the scenic route home.  We saw a sign advertising quilts for sale, so we pulled over to the farm, and an old woman was selling all kinds of quilts in an enclosed porch at her home.  I saw this and had to have it.  It’s antique, but she didn’t know how old it was exactly.  It hangs out on the back of a chair in my living room now; I won’t let anyone use it to cover themselves.  It reminds me of good time spent with family, and it makes me happy.

Cate lost a tooth today.  She wrote a note to her personal tooth fairy, Tabitha, expressing her big hopes.

Five dollars?!  Keep wishing Cate.  The tooth fairy doesn’t pay that well for a tooth in these parts.

Shaggy Mavis was smart enough to stay out of the snow and snuggled on the couch for the better part of the day.

Thursday, February 21st

School was canceled because of the snow, so the girls got plenty of time to play in it.  Meg only lasts a few minutes, but Blythe, and especially Cate, could stay and play in it all day.

Wednesday, February 20th

We got a record snowfall on Wednesday evening.  The thing I find so strange when it snows is how bright it is outside.  This photo was taken of our backyard at 9:11 pm.  There are no lights out there.  This hasn’t been retouched.  It was actually that bright.  I guess the city lights are trapped in by the clouds and they reflect off the snow on the ground.  If they’d been awake, the girls could have gone outside to play in the snow with no outside lights on.  Amazing.

Cate, her leaders, and a few troop mates selling cookies.  Outside.  In winter.  In Colorado.

Cold, cold, cold.
