Yesterday, I made two things I’d never made before: quinoa muffins and my own yogurt!
My neighbor mentioned she had a yogurt maker, and I’ve been interested in, perhaps, buying one, so I borrowed it from her to give it a try. I’m not a big fan of plain yogurt, but Brown Cow yogurt I LOVE. Unfortunately, they don’t sell it anywhere here that I’ve found. However, another neighbor mentioned she’d seen that brand at a grocery store around here. She was right! We checked it out yesterday and they sell small containers of plain Brown Cow. What’s so important about that brand of yogurt is that when making your own, you add 1/2 cup of already-made yogurt to your milk as a “starter”. The yogurt you produce is supposed to be pretty similar to the yogurt you used as a starter. It is! I think I’m going to be buying my own yogurt maker soon.
Now, the quinoa muffins. These muffins called for quinoa in much the same way that you’d use oatmeal to make oatmeal muffins. While I can’t say that I’m crazy about them, the muffins are pretty good. I’ve been curious about the recipe for some time, so I’m glad to have gotten that off my to do list.
