January 28th

Not much to report. It was another spring day, except it isn’t spring. We played outside for quite a bit. The girls are enjoying the bubbles.

I’m not sure which version I prefer. Which do you like?

We got to enjoy a gorgeous afternoon at the playground after a stretch of cold, grey, and rainy days.

If I ever feel like my work is done, I need only leave Blythe in a room for 30 seconds. Here she dumped sequins all over the floor for me to clean up. Lovely.

I won’t even get into the markers, crayons, blocks, bits of food, and everything else she leaves in her wake.

Talking with Meg today, I asked her, “What do you think your special talents are?”

Meg, in a most sincere fashion, replied, “Well, I could tell you, but it would take all night.”

She doesn’t lack confidence.

While eating supper, she tells me, “I wish I had a fairy Godmother.”

“Oh yeah?” I ask.

“I would ask her for my dad to have no work and never have to leave me again.”

Sigh. How long until March?

January 24th

A Girl Scout meeting today followed by Coco’s for supper. I sure am going to miss that place when we leave here.

Cate said she didn’t feel well this morning. I’m not so sure about that, but I let her stay home. It doesn’t hurt to have a down day every once in a while. She stayed home and the girls crafted, played games, and watched movies. Despite relaxing most of the day, we were all still exhausted. Blythe was in bed at 6:30, the girls at 7:00, and I was in bed by 7:30 and asleep by 8:00. It felt great.

Here is Blythe “jump roping” at the vet today. Just try keeping her still.

Huey has been stalking and attacking the girls and we took him to figure out what’s going on. Does it have something to do with Chris being gone?

Part of our Valentine decorations. Crayon shavings ironed between waxed paper, then cut into heart shapes and taped to the window. It like the way it turned out.

Something you should know about Blythe: she loves salad. I can’t eat one in front of her without her eating 1/3 of it. She doesn’t like iceberg, she likes mixed greens, spinach, and arugula. She doesn’t like ranch, she likes vinaigrettes.

Strange tastes, but I love it.
